AeVault: Password Manager Privacy Policy

How AeVault handles passwords, documents, master secrets, encryption, backups, and on-device storage.

Introduction

AeVault: Password Manager is developed by MavDock. This Privacy Policy explains how AeVault accesses, processes, stores, protects, and shares information when you use AeVault.

AeVault is designed as a local-first password and document vault. Your saved vault data stays on your device. MavDock does not operate a cloud vault service for AeVault and cannot remotely view, read, recover, or reset your saved passwords, documents, master secrets, or vault contents.

Information AeVault Handles

AeVault may handle information that you choose to save or create inside AeVault, including:

AeVault uses this information only to provide AeVault features, such as saving, viewing, editing, searching, sorting, filtering, copying, deleting, importing, exporting, and analyzing your saved vault items.

Vault Data

Vault data means sensitive information you save in AeVault, including passwords, usernames, notes, previous passwords, and private documents.

AeVault stores vault data locally on your device. Sensitive vault contents are encrypted before being stored. AeVault does not upload your vault contents to MavDock servers.

MavDock cannot access your saved passwords, documents, master secrets, or encrypted vault contents.

Documents

AeVault allows you to store private documents such as PDFs and images in an encrypted document vault.

When you choose to view or download a document, AeVault may temporarily decrypt the file on your device so Android or another local viewer can open it. AeVault attempts to clean up temporary decrypted files, but once you download or share a decrypted document outside AeVault, that file may be readable by other apps or people with access to your device.

You are responsible for safely storing, deleting, or protecting any decrypted documents that you export, download, or open outside AeVault.

Master Secrets

AeVault does not store your master secret.

Your master secret is required to decrypt your saved vault data. If you forget your master secret, MavDock cannot recover your passwords, documents, or encrypted data.

You are responsible for remembering and protecting your master secret. Do not share it with anyone.

On-Device Storage

AeVault stores app data on your device using local Android storage.

This may include:

Some non-secret metadata, such as app/site names, document names, categories, timestamps, and file names, may be stored locally to support search, sorting, filtering, and display features.

Internet and Cloud Usage

AeVault does not require a MavDock cloud account and MavDock does not operate a cloud vault service for AeVault.

AeVault may connect to Google Play for app distribution, licensing, purchases, updates, billing, and platform services. Google processes information for those services under its own privacy policy and terms.

Encryption and Security

AeVault uses encryption and Android security features to help protect vault data on your device.

Security features may include:

No method of electronic storage or device security can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Your device security, screen lock, Android version, installed apps, and personal security habits also affect the safety of your data.

Biometric and Device Unlock

AeVault may use Android biometric or device credential authentication, such as fingerprint, face unlock, phone PIN, pattern, or password, if enabled on your device.

AeVault does not receive or store your fingerprint, face data, phone PIN, pattern, or device password. Authentication is handled by Android system security.

Clipboard

AeVault lets you copy usernames and passwords to your device clipboard.

When a password is copied, AeVault may automatically attempt to clear the clipboard after a short time. However, Android clipboard behavior can vary by device, Android version, keyboard app, and other apps installed on your device.

You should avoid copying sensitive data when using untrusted apps or devices.

Import, Export, and Backups

AeVault may allow you to export encrypted password backups and import encrypted backup files.

Password backups are intended to help you restore your password vault if app data is lost or if you move to another device. Document backup/export behavior may be separate from password backup.

If you save an exported backup to your device, cloud storage, email, messaging app, file manager, or any external location, you are responsible for keeping that backup and its required secret safe.

If you lose the backup secret or master secret required for decryption, MavDock cannot recover the backup contents.

Notifications and Local Reminders

AeVault may send local reminders if you grant notification permission.

Notifications may include reminders to add or update passwords, export a backup after changes, or review old passwords.

These reminders are generated locally on your device. AeVault does not send your vault contents to MavDock for notification processing.

You can manage notification permission through Android system settings.

Payments and Purchases

If AeVault offers paid features, purchases are processed by Google Play.

MavDock does not directly receive or store your full payment-card details. Purchase processing, refunds, payment authentication, and related transaction handling are managed by Google Play according to Google’s own policies.

AeVault may store a local purchase or entitlement state on your device so premium features can be unlocked after purchase or restore.

Data MavDock Does Not Collect or Sell

MavDock does not collect, upload, sell, rent, or trade your saved vault contents.

MavDock does not sell your personal data.

MavDock does not collect:

AeVault does not use your vault contents for advertising, profiling, analytics, or data brokerage.

Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking

AeVault does not include third-party advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, or third-party tracking SDKs for collecting vault data.

AeVault does not use saved passwords, documents, notes, or vault metadata for advertising, tracking, profiling, analytics monetization, or data brokerage.

Google Play, Android, and device manufacturers may process limited technical, purchase, crash, diagnostic, or installation information according to their own policies and settings.

App Permissions and System Access

AeVault may request permissions or system access only when needed for app features.

Permissions may include:

Android displays system permission prompts where required. You can revoke permissions from your device settings.

Data Sharing

AeVault does not share your saved vault contents with MavDock or third-party services.

Data may leave AeVault only when you choose to perform an action such as:

When you use Google Play, cloud storage, file managers, email apps, or other third-party apps, those services handle data according to their own privacy policies.

Data Retention and Deletion

Vault data remains on your device until you delete it, clear app storage, uninstall AeVault, or otherwise remove it through Android/device storage behavior.

AeVault provides options to delete individual records and clear stored vault data.

If you uninstall AeVault or clear app data, locally stored vault data may be deleted. If you do not have a valid encrypted backup and the required secret, your data may not be recoverable.

Children’s Privacy

AeVault is not directed to children under 13.

MavDock does not knowingly collect personal information from children through AeVault. If you believe a child has provided personal information to MavDock, please contact MavDock.

User Responsibility

Because AeVault is a local-first security app, you are responsible for:

If your device is compromised, rooted, infected with malware, or accessed by someone else, your data may be at greater risk.

Third-Party Services

AeVault may rely on Google Play and Android platform services for app distribution, purchases, licensing, updates, billing, and device-level functionality.

These services are provided by Google and are governed by Google’s own privacy policies and terms. MavDock is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services, apps, or platforms.

Changes to This Policy

MavDock may update this Privacy Policy as AeVault, its features, legal requirements, or platform requirements change.

When changes are made, the effective date will be updated. Material changes may also be communicated through AeVault where appropriate.
