Introduction
Cloak: Privacy Manager is developed by MavDock. This Privacy Policy explains how Cloak accesses, processes, stores, and shares information.
Cloak is designed to help users understand installed apps, app permissions, privacy risk signals, usage insights, and battery-related device information. Cloak is built as a local-first privacy app. Its core privacy and battery insights are processed on your device.
Information Cloak Handles
Cloak may process information available on your device, including:
- Installed app names
- Package identifiers
- App icons
- App type, such as user-installed, preinstalled, or Android system app
- Install and update dates
- Permission lists and permission categories
- Sensitive permission signals, such as camera, microphone, location, contacts, files, phone, SMS, notifications, usage access, install-unknown-apps access, display-over-apps access, and similar Android access categories
- Privacy score results
- Review results and report details
- Trusted-app choices
- App preferences and settings
- Battery temperature
- Battery level
- Charging state
- Estimated battery drain information
- Battery history samples
- Local notification state
Cloak uses this information to provide its privacy manager, app review, permission review, report, and battery insight features.
Installed Apps and Permissions
Cloak scans installed apps on your device to show which permissions each app has requested or been granted, depending on what Android makes available.
This helps Cloak identify apps with sensitive access categories, such as camera, microphone, location, contacts, files, phone, SMS, notifications, usage access, install-unknown-apps access, display-over-apps access, foreground service access, and similar Android permissions or special access settings.
Cloak uses installed-app information only for its core privacy-management features. Installed-app data is not sold, shared for advertising, or used for analytics monetization.
Usage Access and Screen Time Insights
If you enable Usage Access, Cloak may process app usage information available from Android, such as last-used time, screen time, foreground activity, and recent app activity.
Cloak uses this information to show privacy insights, unused-app signals, screen-time summaries, battery context, and review suggestions. Usage Access data is processed on your device.
You can disable Usage Access at any time from Android settings, but some Cloak features may become limited.
Privacy Score and Reports
Cloak may generate privacy scores, summaries, review screens, and reports based on installed apps, permission categories, usage signals, sensitive-permission signals, trusted-app choices, and battery-related information.
Privacy scores and reports are informational. They are intended to help you review app access more easily. They should not be treated as a guarantee that an app is safe, unsafe, harmful, or trustworthy.
Battery Insights
Cloak may show battery-related information such as battery temperature, battery level, charging status, battery history, estimated drain signals, warmest and coolest temperature samples, and overnight or fast-drain insights where available from Android or device sensors.
Battery insights are estimates. They may vary by device, Android version, battery age, charging behavior, sensor availability, background activity, and manufacturer behavior.
Background Scans and Local Notifications
Cloak may run periodic on-device scans and app-open scans to update privacy, permission, usage, and battery insights.
Cloak may send local notifications for items such as:
- New apps that need review
- Permission changes
- Unused risky apps
- Privacy score changes
- Battery temperature warnings
- Weekly privacy review reminders
- Trusted-app risk changes
These notifications are generated on your device. Cloak does not upload scan results to MavDock servers to create these notifications.
App Lock
If you enable app lock, authentication is handled by Android using biometrics or your device screen lock, such as PIN, pattern, or password.
Cloak does not receive or store your fingerprint, face data, PIN, pattern, password, or device unlock credentials. Authentication is handled by Android.
On-Device Storage
Cloak stores app-scan results, privacy reports, permission history, trusted-app choices, battery insight history, notification state, and preferences on your device when needed to provide its features.
Cloak does not upload installed-app lists, permission reports, privacy scores, usage insights, trusted-app choices, or battery insight data to MavDock servers.
Data Retention and Deletion
Cloak data remains on your device until you delete it, clear app storage, uninstall Cloak, or otherwise remove it through Android/device storage behavior.
You can delete stored Cloak data using controls available in Cloak, by clearing Cloak’s app storage through Android settings, or by uninstalling Cloak. Some recent records, such as permission-change history, may expire automatically when they are no longer needed.
Data MavDock Does Not Collect or Sell
MavDock does not collect your installed-app list, app-permission reports, privacy scores, usage insights, trusted-app choices, or battery insight data through Cloak.
MavDock does not sell your personal data.
MavDock does not use Cloak scan results for advertising, profiling, or data brokerage.
Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking
Cloak does not include third-party advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, or third-party tracking SDKs for collecting app-scan results, permission reports, privacy scores, usage insights, trusted-app choices, or battery insight data.
Cloak does not use app-scan results, permission reports, privacy scores, usage insights, trusted-app choices, or battery insight data for advertising, tracking, profiling, analytics monetization, or data brokerage.
Google Play, Android, and device manufacturers may process limited technical, purchase, crash, diagnostic, or installation information according to their own policies and settings.
Internet and Cloud Usage
Cloak does not require a MavDock cloud account to scan apps or display privacy and battery insights.
Cloak may connect to Google Play for app distribution, licensing, purchases, updates, billing, and platform services. Google processes information for those services under its own privacy policy and terms.
Payments and Purchases
If Cloak offers paid features, purchases are processed by Google Play.
MavDock does not directly receive or store your full payment-card details. Purchase processing, refunds, payment authentication, and related transaction handling are managed by Google Play according to Google’s own policies.
Cloak may store a local purchase or entitlement state on your device so premium features can be unlocked after purchase or restore.
App Permissions and System Access
Cloak may request permissions or system access only when needed for app features.
Depending on your device and Android version, this may include access needed to view installed apps, inspect permission information, read usage activity after you enable Usage Access, or read battery-related device status.
Android displays system prompts or settings screens before certain access is granted. You can revoke permissions or system access in your device settings.
Data Sharing
Cloak does not share app-scan results, permission reports, privacy scores, usage insights, trusted-app choices, or battery insight data with MavDock or third-party services.
Data may leave Cloak only when you choose to perform an action such as sharing a report, opening Android settings, reviewing an app in Google Play, or completing a purchase through Google Play.
When you use Google Play, Android settings, share sheets, file managers, or other third-party apps, those services handle data according to their own privacy policies.

Cloak is not directed to children under 13.
MavDock does not knowingly collect personal information from children through Cloak. If you believe a child has provided personal information to MavDock, please contact MavDock.
Data Security
Cloak is designed to keep privacy and battery insight data on your device. However, no app, device, or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You are responsible for keeping your device, Android account, and screen lock secure.
Third-Party Services
Cloak may rely on Google Play and Android platform services for app distribution, purchases, licensing, updates, billing, and device-level functionality.
These services are provided by Google and are governed by Google’s own privacy policies and terms. MavDock is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services, apps, or platforms.
Changes to This Policy
MavDock may update this Privacy Policy as Cloak, its features, legal requirements, or platform requirements change.
When changes are made, the effective date will be updated. Material changes may also be communicated through Cloak where appropriate.
